Class of 2001 Reconnect for Special 25-Year Reunion

There was plenty of laughter, nostalgia and more than a few memories unlocked as the Class of 2001 returned to Methody for their 25-Year Reunion on Saturday 12 September 2026, before continuing the celebrations at AMPM Belfast's Treehouse.

The evening began back where it all started, with around 30 former pupils returning to MCB for a tour of the College, led by Stephen Lindsay (Class of 2001), who is now back teaching at Methody.

It was fantastic to see how much the College has developed, particularly the transformation of A Block and McArthur Hall, while at the same time discovering just how many familiar corners could instantly transport everyone back 25 years.

The tour became a journey through memories of school life. There was a return to the Whitla Hall, bringing back memories of assemblies, drama productions and, of course, Methody's Got Talent 2001.

There were smiles remembering the countless hours spent socialising on the Rec Floor, before retracing that familiar walk along the F Block corridor, through the Windy Gap and down the KLM corridor, with stops at Technology and Geography along the way.

Fittingly, the tour finished in the Chapel, the very place where the Class of 2001 had gathered for one of the final time before leaving MCB in June 2001. Twenty-five years later, they were back together again.

From Methody to AMPM

From the College, attention turned to AMPM Belfast, where around 70 members of the year group came together for the main reunion celebration. The event had been organised for the Class of 2001 at AMPM's Treehouse, with food platters and a welcome drink included.

The joy in the room was fantastic to see.

Old friendships picked up remarkably quickly as people reminisced about the good times, shared stories of what had happened over the intervening 25 years and caught up on both the successes and challenges that life had brought.

There were smiles all around, plenty of laughter and perhaps the realisation that, although 25 years may have passed, some friendships never really disappear.

The evening was also a reminder of something increasingly important as we move through life: staying connected matters.

Life can sometimes be busy and, at other times, lonely. Reconnecting with the people who shared such an important period of our lives can mean much more than simply reminiscing about the past. Reigniting old friendships and rebuilding those connections could prove every bit as important for the next stage of our lives as remembering the one we shared together at Methody.

The Highlights Video

The highlights video captures the smiles, laughter and friendships that made the Class of 2001 reunion such a special occasion.

The soundtrack adds another touch of nostalgia, with “Angel” by Shaggy featuring Rayvon, a UK No. 1 in June 2001, taking us right back to the month we left Methody. Twenty-five years later, it feels like a fitting soundtrack as we look back on where our journey began and celebrate the friendships and connections that continue today.

Make sure to watch the highlights and see how many familiar faces you can spot!

Here's to 2031... or Maybe Sooner!

The Class of 2001 are already looking forward to doing it all again for the 30-Year Reunion in 2031.

But having rediscovered just how enjoyable it is to get everyone together, we're not sure we'll manage to wait another five years!

Christmas drinks may have to make an appearance before then.

So, Class of 2001, keep connected, keep the friendships going and stay tuned to the various communication channels old and new, from Bebo to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Twenty-five years on, the evening was a wonderful reminder that while the buildings change, careers develop and life moves in many different directions, the friendships, memories and sense of connection created at Methody can remain for a lifetime.

Class of 2001, reunited after 25 years and hopefully not waiting another five before we do it all again!
