The Methody Gala Ball proved to be a memorable and vibrant evening, bringing together members of the school community for celebration, reflection, and enjoyment. Hosted in the Culloden Estate, the event successfully combined elegance with entertainment, highlighting the strong connections between past and present pupils, parents, and staff.

Guests were welcomed into a well-appointed setting where they enjoyed a beautifully prepared three-course dinner. The meal provided an opportunity for attendees to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate their shared connection with Methodist College Belfast. The atmosphere throughout the dining experience was warm and convivial, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

Following dinner, a variety of engaging activities added excitement and interaction to the programme. The “Mystery Rugby Ball” game brought a sense of fun and anticipation to proceedings. A unique highlight of the evening was Methody’s own take on the classic Heads or Tails game, named “Navy or White.” Participants chose between the two colours, represented by a blue or white Maltese cross, adding a distinctive Methody identity to this traditional game and encouraging enthusiastic participation across the room. All the prizes donated for the fundraising activities were greatly appreciated by those who won. 

A particularly special element of the evening was the series of video messages from notable former pupils. Contributions from Gavin Mairs (Class of 1991), Matthew Humphreys (Class of 2021), Amy Hunter (Class of 2024), Stephen Watson (Class of 1989), Ethan McIlroy (Class of 2019), and Jamie Dornan (Class of 2000) provided both inspiration and a sense of pride. Their messages reflected on their time at Methody and reinforced the lasting impact of the school community, resonating strongly with those in attendance.

The evening also included a conversation with Principal Mrs Lendrum, who spoke about the importance of maintaining strong relationships between parents, alumni, and the school itself. She emphasised the role of this collective community in ensuring Methody continues to thrive and succeed, underscoring the significance of events like the Gala Ball in strengthening these bonds.

As the formalities concluded, the evening transitioned into a lively social gathering. Entertainment was provided by the band Red Velvet, whose performance energised the crowd and drew guests to the dance floor. The combination of music, dancing, and relaxed socialising created a fitting finale, allowing attendees to celebrate in style and further enjoy the sense of community that defines Methody.
