On Friday 5th September 2025 we held our inaugural Collegians Business Network event at Methody. It took place in the Atrium of McArthur Hall which was the perfect setting for bringing together like-minded professionals for an afternoon of learning and building connections.
The attendees arrived to some refreshments and were able to connect with fellow Collegians over a coffee and perfectly made Maltese Cross shortbread!
The Principal, Mrs Jenny Lendrum, welcomed all those who were there back to the College. Congratulating them on their successes and thanking them for returning to support this new venture for Methody Collegians. Judith Cochrane, President of Methody Collegians, then outlined the vision of Methody Collegians and our success over the last year. Our vision for Methody Collegians is to develop a social and business network where Collegians can come together to connect, grow and empower alumni to make a valuable impact on each other and the College.
Robert Ferguson, CEO of Four Gears, shared about his journey into the world of AI giving context for how AI is being used in the world emphasising the benefits it can have. Our compère for the event, Paul Marshall (class of 2003) then interviewed Paul Taylor (class of 1986) who is the CEO of Thought Machine about his journey from 1 Malone Road to the head quarters of Google in London to now running his own international business. Both Robert and Paul’s enthusiasm for science and technology to pave a brighter future in the business world was clear to see and we were inspired by what they had to say!
A fantastic start to the Collegians Business Network!
